Our Mission

Portsmouth Christian Church is dedicated to Loving God, Loving People and Being A Servant. Reaching the Lost, Developing Disciples, Impacting Generations. We go after the lost with a passion as the first Church in Acts did. We disciple people intensely in the word of God. We teach believers to overcome battles and challenges by empowering them in the word of God through faith. e are empowered by the Holy Spirit, to reach the world for Jesus; expand the kingdom of God and impact all generations, You will see the impact of our mission through our church services, classes, group settings, and relationships. We live this out in every part of our DNA as a church. From worship, serving our community, learning about God, welcoming our neighbors and more. Every aspect of our church is to be a shining light of hope and grace in our community. We hope to see you soon.

Welcome

You’re invited to worship together on Sundays, 11:00am at 3150 Detroit St. Portsmouth, VA 23707 We’re a local church, committed to the authority of the word of God and the Lordship of Jesus Christ, we strive to give of ourselves to a ministry of Bible teaching, word of God preaching, evangelism, and missions. We understand that people don’t care how much you know, until they know how much you care. As we move into the future, our commitments to these key elements remain firm. At Portsmouth Christian, we are a church where all the spiritual gifts that the Bible speaks about could be expressed, where a real family atmosphere could be found and where there would be freedom to believe and lead as God directed the church. We are a come as you are church family committed to Loving God and Loving People, and Serving the Community.”

Our Beliefs

title description
The Scripture Inspired

The Bible is the inspired Word of God. (2 Timothy 3:15-17; 1 Peter 1:23-25; Hebrews 4:12)

Trinity

There is One God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (1 John 5:7; Genesis 1:26; Matthew 3:16-17, 28:19; Luke 1:35; Isaiah 9:6; Hebrews 3:7-11)

The One True God

The One True God has revealed Himself as the eternally self-existent, self- revealed “I AM” (Deut.6:4; Mark 12:29; Isaiah 43:10-11; Matthew 28:19)

Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ is God the Son, the second person of the Trinity (John 1:1,14;20:28 1 Timothy 3:16; Isaiah 9:6; Philippians 2:5-6; 1 Timothy 2:5)

Virgin Birth

Jesus Christ was conceived by God the Father, through the Holy Spirit in the virgin Mary’s womb Matthew 1:18,25; Luke 1:35 Isaiah 7:14 Matthew 1:18, 23-25)

The Fall of Man

Man was originally created good and upright by God. However, man by voluntary transgression fell and thereby incurred not only physical death but also spiritual death, which is separation from God (Genesis 1:26-27; Genesis 2:17; Romans 5:12-19)

The Salvation of Man

Man’s only hope of redemption is through the shed blood of Jesus Christ the Son of God (Luke 24:47; John 3:3; Romans 10:13-15; Ephesians 2:8; Titus 2:11)
Water Baptism

Following faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, the new convert is commanded by the Word of God to be Baptized in water in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19; Acts 2:38)
